"Review of Reviews"

Bad
http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/reviews/the-dark-knight-12a-878023.html

1.            This bad review on The Dark Knight starts off by talking about Batman Begins.  The critic compares the two, and thinks that The Dark Knight doesn't follow the same tone as Batman Begins.  the critic describes the movie as "cumbersome", "grimly overwhelming", and "depressing".  The critic adds on to this idea by mentioning that "Batman" isn't even in the title, possibly meaning that it is not strictly a batman film.  He believes this is to not attract the wrong audience, for the movie is very dark.  The critic seemed to be devoting most of the review critiquing the roles of the characters.  He thought the Joker was great, but thought that Christopher nolan put too much emphasis on Bruce Wayne and not enough on Batman.  The tone of the review was very straight-forward.  He said what he didn't like and briefly explained why.  The main argument of the review is that the movie was just way too dark and didn't really follow the same mood of Batman Begins.  However, I do agree with the critic in some aspects.

2.            The critic believes that "the Joker's career of terrorism for terrorism's sake holds the film together".  I also think that Heath Ledgers performance as the Joker was, to this day, the best performance by any actor I've ever seen.  Ledger became the Joker.  I agree with the critic on this point also because since the Joker is crazy, loud, and completely the opposite of Batman, the good against the bad theme worked out perfectly.

4.            First off, my review would have nothing but good things to say about the movie.  It is probably one of my top three favorite movies of all time for its suspense, foreshadowing, action, darkness, and themes.  In my review I would talk about how their was no bad performance by any of the actors or actresses and none better than Heath ledger's role.  The Joker was the epicenter of suspense  because whenever he was on the screen something big and important was about to happen.  Next I would talk about the action.  My favorite parts of the movie were those when Batman was fighting whoever whether it be the Joker or just the regular scums of Gotham.  Lastly I would include how Christopher Nolan did a great job with keeping the same suspenseful mood throughout the whole movie.  I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants to watch one of the best movies ever made.

1.            The review starts out with the critic talking about previous movies Christopher nolan has made and how they were all amazing.  Then he talks about how there is a perfect contrast between good and evil. The good being Harvey Dent's work with putting thousands of Gotham's criminals in jail along with Batman helping that cause, and the bad being the Joker trying to create terror through the city by killing innocent civilians and putting bombs almost anywhere where society would least expect them.  The critics tone throughout the review is descriptive and appreciative of the film.

2.           "The action moves insanely fast, the exposition is breathless, and the big set pieces practically tread on each other’s heels. Down time doesn’t exist in this film."  These two sentences are a perfect way to describe the movie.  Since the action moves fast the movie forces you to be on the edge of your seat if you want to digest the whole movie.  The plot and the screenwriter are unbelievable along with the setting throughout film.  Overall, it is a movie that you must be completely turned into for there is no down time.

3.          If I had read the two reviews before watching the movie I would be more convinced by the second one.  Although the first review does point out some bad parts, or aspects that weren't good, the second critic was much more descriptive, knowledgeable, and all around happier with his movie experience.  The critic also says that the movie is like a saga put into one.  Meaning that there is so much going on and there is never a dull moment.  The first review focused mainly on the characters roles in the movie and not the movie as a whole.  The second review talked about the characters, plot, and overall description of the movie which was more convincing to me.
